The easiest to use adapter is the part # 37185. This allows you to plug both of your connectors styles into it and will allow the turn signals of your trailer to be activated by your tow vehicle.

Your generation of truck (2005 Chevy Silverado) is notorious for blowing the third brake light fuse easily. And when this circuit dies if you have a brake controller installed using the factory brake controller wiring it will stop working with the brake pedal.
